About Us

The foundation for Fiorentino Bros. Contracting Ltd. was laid in 1966 when brothers Gus, Frank and Angelo Fiorentino started a small Cranbrook-based logging equipment company -- Interior Diesel & Equipment Ltd.

Serving the region’s forest industry, the company early in 1968 took on the Timberjack™ log skidder dealership and within four years Interior Diesel & Equipment Ltd. grew to become Canada’s second largest Timberjack™ dealer. The young company earned several corporate awards for exceptional service and dedication to its customers.

In 1969 the brothers expanded their business scope by launching Fiorentino Bros. Contracting Ltd., which at the outset was involved in earthmoving, logging and some road building services. In 1972 the Fiorentino's sold Interior Diesel and broadened their operations with a focus on forestry road building and earthmoving.

A few years later the company diversified further into the mining industry with the start of the Moyie River Placer Mine Project. This remarkable open-pit gold mining project operated until 1985 when it was sold to the publicly-traded Queenstake Resource. FBC was hired to continue operating the project until market prices of precious metals began to decline in the early 90s. The gold mine was reopened again in 2010 and operated for a couple more years.

Today, Fiorentino Bros. Contracting employs up to 80 people and operates more than 100 units of heavy equipment and a fleet of more than 70 motor vehicles. Canfor, formerly Tembec Industries Inc., and earlier Crestbrook Forest Industries, has been one of the company’s long standing, major customers since the 1960s.

In order to provide the most practical, dependable service to customers, FBC has employees stationed throughout the East Kootenay in communities such as Cranbrook, Creston, Canal Flats, Invermere, Radium, Parson, Golden, Elkford, Fernie, and Sparwood.

As resourceful entrepreneurs, the Fiorentino's are recognized for their expertise in rebuilding heavy construction equipment. That skill has been one of the contributing factors to the growth and success of the company over the past three decades.

Supported by the experience of the company founders, the second generation of Fiorentino family members is now bringing their energy, skills and knowledge to the wide range of construction and resource development projects.
